Horizon 2020 UK National Launch

The UK launch of the €79bn EU research and innovation programme for 2014-20 - Horizon 2020 is taking place on Friday, 31 January 2014. The event will run from 10am to 4:40pm. See the event's agenda.
 
The event is invitation only and seats have now all been filled but you can follow proceedings via a live web-stream.
 
This event is organised by the , and co-sponsored by the and the . 
 
The launch will include speakers from business, academia and government, including the:
  • Minister of State for Universities and Science, Rt Hon David Willetts MP
  • European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn
  • European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Androulla Vassiliou
The event aims to raise awareness of the growing importance of EU research and innovation programmes for the UK, which  is well placed to compete successfully for a significant share of the available funding.
 
Horizon 2020 aims to foster sustainable growth and jobs, focusing on groundbreaking research through the , as well as tackling societal challenges such as ageing population, energy and food security and climate change. Substantial support will be allocated to business, including SMEs.
